The Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle, in association with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, is the highlight of the National Hunt Season at Newcastle Racecourse.
One of the North East's most important meetings of the year, and certainly the highest profile jumps event, the day always attracts the top string of jump horses. Recent winners of the Fighting Fifth include Harchibald in 2004 and 2007, Straw Bear in 2006 and more recently the top hurdler Punjabi (2008).
Newcastle racecourse has its own unique atmosphere and this is always a special day out.
